STREETWISE "Nike Air Max 90" Sculpture.

Commissioned in 2006 by Nike for their 'Festival of Air' exhibition in Niketown, London, this piece was created as a tribute to the subcultures that adopted the Nike Air Max 90 and the streets on which it is used. The idea was to make the base of the piece the focal point, rather than the shoes and legs on top of it. The piece also highlights the contrast between the heavy surface materials used on the street and the lightness of the air in the sole of the shoe.

The shoes and legs are made from solid concrete, while the air bubble was created using clear polyurethane resin. The base is made from various pavement and surface materials such as asphalt, bricks, cobblestones and concrete.
